The concept of auburn has changed so much! I like that strawberry hue.
@Sorreltyree Yeah, I think auburn really narrowed down to red-brown over time – there are a few older books I've read where auburn seems to refer to any darker reddish hair (or more subdued shades) that isn't classic ginger or carrot orange.

@erinbee I've never seen pictures - or even heard - of people with blue hair before maybe the 80s!?
@kirby A lot of women had accidentally blue hair because they used tinted shampoo to rinse away yellow tinge or staining on white hair – the classic "blue haired old lady." But it was also sometimes a fashion colour in the 1930s and 50s. Here's a hairstyle that won a hairdressing contest in 1935:
